Ruona Meyer: is an investigative reporter, a researcher, and the first Nigerian journalist to be nominated for an International Emmy Award. With over 20 years’ experience, she recently served as Manager, Africa Initiative at New-York based Solutions Journalism Network, and sits on several boards and journalism award juries serving newsrooms, journalists and audiences across Africa, the US and Europe. In particular, she was an Advisory Board Member on the Next Gen News Study—research by FT Strategies, Google News Initiative and Medill Northwestern University, USA into young audiences’ news consumption habits. Ruona holds a M.A. in Broadcast Journalism and is a final-year PhD scholar studying power dynamics within African Intercontinental collaborative investigative journalism networks.
